Peer Review Process

The ECOCIENCIA Scientific Journal adheres to a rigorous and transparent peer review system to ensure the academic integrity, quality, and originality of all manuscripts submitted for publication. Each manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review process, maintaining the anonymity of both authors and reviewers to ensure impartiality.

Before entering the peer review phase, all manuscripts are subjected to a similarity check using Compilatio, with a maximum allowable similarity threshold of 10%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit are returned to the authors for revision or rejection.

The peer review process comprises three structured phases:

Phase 1: Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial screening to verify compliance with the journal’s editorial policies, formatting requirements, and thematic scope.

The Editorial Board then assesses the scientific quality and relevance of the manuscript to determine its eligibility for peer review.

Phase 2: Double-Blind Peer Review

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to two external reviewers with expertise in the subject matter.

Reviewers independently evaluate the manuscript and provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Accept with minor or major revisions
  • Resubmit for a new round of review
  • Reject

A clear timeline is established for the completion of evaluations and author revisions.

Reviewer feedback is shared anonymously with the authors to guide necessary improvements.

Phase 3: Final Editorial Decision

Based on the peer review reports, the Editorial Committee issues a final decision on publication.

In cases of conflicting reviewer recommendations, a third expert reviewer is consulted to provide a conclusive evaluation.
