Peer Review System
RES NON VERBA, in its commitment to academic quality and editorial rigor, employs a double-blind peer review process as a core element of its editorial procedure. This system ensures both impartiality and a high standard of scholarly publication. The entire process is outlined in the following stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Review
- Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted anonymously through the Open Journal System (OJS).
Submissions must include:
- The manuscript with no author-identifying information.
- A separate author form containing:
- Full names of all authors
- Institutional affiliations
- Email addresses
- Editorial Screening
The Editorial Committee conducts an initial assessment to verify:
- Originality – The work must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Relevance – The manuscript must align with the journal’s thematic areas.
- Structure & Format – The article must follow the journal’s structure and author guidelines.
- APA Style – All formatting must adhere to APA 6th edition standards.
- Plagiarism Check – The manuscript is reviewed using COMPILATIO software.
- A maximum similarity index of 10% is allowed.
- Grounds for Immediate Rejection
- Topic is outside the journal’s scope.
- The manuscript is not original or has already been published.
- The structure or formatting is inadequate.
- APA style is not correctly applied.
- The submission is incomplete.
- Initial Review Timeline
- This phase may take up to 30 calendar days.
- Authors will be notified via email whether the manuscript proceeds to peer review or is rejected.
Stage 2: Double-Blind Peer Review
- Assignment of Reviewers
- Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to two external reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.
- Reviewers are selected through public calls or direct invitations.
- Authors may not suggest reviewers.
- Reviewers are not remunerated, but receive a certificate of recognition.
- Reviewer Qualifications
- Must hold a postgraduate degree (Ph.D., Master's, or Specialization).
- Must demonstrate experience in the journal’s research fields.
- Must have peer-reviewed publications in indexed journals.
- Review Process
- Reviewers receive anonymized manuscripts via the OJS platform.
- They are given four (4) weeks to complete their evaluation.
- Feedback and a recommendation are submitted through a standardized evaluation form.
- Reviewer Decisions
- Publishable without modifications
- Publishable with minor/moderate modifications
- Resubmit for review after major revisions
- Not publishable
- In Case of Reviewer Discrepancy
- If reviewer recommendations differ significantly, a third reviewer is assigned.
- The third reviewer has two (2) weeks to issue a final decision.
- Author Revisions
- If revisions are requested, authors are provided with the reviewer comments.
- Authors have 20 calendar days to revise and resubmit the manuscript.
- Final Evaluation
- The Editorial Committee reviews the revised version to ensure all recommendations
- were addressed.
- Manuscripts are checked again for quality, clarity, and adherence to journal standards.
- Final Decision
- Authors are informed by email about the acceptance or rejection of their article.
- If accepted, the publication date is communicated.
Total Review Duration
- The entire peer review process may take up to 12 weeks.
- From submission to final publication, the total process may extend to 24 weeks, depending on issue scheduling and reviewer availability.
Transparent Communication
- RES NON VERBA maintains clear and timely communication with authors:
- Authors are notified of delays in evaluation.
- If delays become extended, authors may request to withdraw their manuscript.
